Malden Golf Club’s Charity contribution

MGC has been running a charity day since 1995.

During this period over £370,000 has been raised in support of local charities.

In accordance with our own Mission Statement we support five local charities for a period of five years: “The mission of the Charity committee is to collect funds from charitable events held throughout each year and donate these funds to selected, local charities which are often underfunded and/or receive no local/national funding or grants”.

We are currently supporting:

Shooting Stars Chase. A leading childrens’ hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, they are there to make every moment count. They support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.

Kcil Kingston Centre for independent living provides a range of services to ensure that disabled people who live, work or study in Kingston are able to lead independent lives and also provides disability-related advice and information to other interested individuals or organisations.

Parkinson’s Can Dance supports people living with Parkinson’s to develop confidence and strength, and provide the opportunity for creativity and self-expression, whist also temporarily relieving some participants of symptoms in everyday life.

Express CIC is a ‘not for profit’ community organization based in the borough of Kingston upon Thames.  A service for young people with autism, their carers, families and the wider community. Their ultimate goal is a purpose built autism hub in the heart of the community, a place for everyone. This charity was started by two ladies over a coffee and is now the Autism charity to go to. Amazing ladies.

TAG Teenage Activity Group is for young people with disabilities aged 15 to 25.  Delivering a programme of personal, social and educational opportunities to young people with disabilities or additional needs. Enabling young people to participate in experiences, for them to be able to reflect on how these experiences have changed them.

Over the years we have been able to help other charities:

  • Bedelsford school for children with learning disabilities. Over the period we have given over £100,000 to Bedelsford.
  • Action for Children Warren Park, a local respite centre that provides some rest and relief for much deserving parents
  • Born too Soon, a neo-natal clinic at Kingston Hospital for very tiny babies
  • Young Carers, allowing some often very young people a break
  • Spartans Swimming Club for the disabled
  • The Fircroft Trust for older people with mental issues,
  • Princess Alice Trust
  • McMillan Nurses
  • Malden Social Blind
  • Fulham Football Club Community Project.
