The 125th celebration Hickory Day took place on Sunday 20th May 2018 in brilliant sunshine. We had 60 sets of hickory clubs available for the competitors to use, which had been provided by members of the British Golf Collectors Society. Chris Gems who is also a member of the society, helped us to organise the event. Everyone who took part dressed up in period attire and really entered into the spirit of the day. We discovered that to get the best out of hickory clubs you need a steady smooth swing and that soft golf balls were the best to use.

The competition was a team event with 2 scores to count out of 4. It was Stableford off full handicap, with the men playing off the yellow tees and the ladies off the red. Some great scores were returned on the day.

Following the golf, there was a fantastic lunch in the dining room followed by the prize presentation and speeches.

The winners on the day were - Brian Chivers (MGC), Jane Chivers (MGC), Adain Pluis (MGC), David Hall (BGCS),

and runners-up were - Linda Anderson (Lady Vice Captain), Christian McMillan (BGCS), Crawford Anderson (MGC), David Ball (MGC House Committee)
